BRENT LEE

Born Sydney, Australia, 1988

Drawing inspiration from a wide historical continuum, referencing the monumentality and disciplined proportion of Roman architecture, the restraint and clarity of mid-to-late eighteenth-century French Neoclassicism, and the measured sensitivity of Belgian minimalist philosophy. Lee’s work is defined by a focus on permanence, sculptural proportion, and material integrity, engaging historical architectural language through interiors and furniture

This architectural thinking extends into Lee’s collectible furniture, conceived as sculptural works positioned between art, architecture, and artefact. His collections explore tension between weight and lift, mass and refinement, with a focus on silhouette, material depth, and spatial presence. Exclusively represented by STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN, the Babliano Collection, fabricated in France by Ateliers Saint-Jacques, exemplifies this approach through forms that assert physical authority while maintaining compositional balance and cultural resonance

Lee established his eponymous design studio following architectural studies in Sydney, complemented by formative studies in fashion design in Melbourne. His work within interiors and furniture extends across Australia, Los Angeles, and Paris, reflecting a body of work shaped through authorial vision, international collaboration, and close engagement with artisans, architects, and galleries
