EROSUS CORPORI

Hand-Sculpted Erosion for the Human Body

Formed from Bianco Rapolano travertine, the kitchen island and bathtub were commissioned for a Paris residence in 2025. Each piece appears to be eroded by time in the ergonomics of the human body

The island was cut from a single block, shaped through digital precision and refined by hand. Its planes remain subtly irregular, exposing the travertine’s sediment and variation. A thin lime-plaster skin unifies the surfaces, softening tonal shifts while preserving the sense of carved mass

The bath continues this language of restraint. Its basin is hollowed from the same stone, the geometry softened by hand until it reads as an eroded volume rather than an industrial casting. The natural veining runs uninterrupted through its form, reinforcing the connection between both pieces

Together they function less as fixtures and more as inhabitable sculptures — unique works that bridge architecture and object. Each piece defines a private encounter with material weight, revealing how permanence can be rendered quiet
